Public transport



At the tourist map, you will find bus routes and bus stops marked with a cross, by clicking on the ‘Bus routes’ icon in the Map levels menu.

Local services

Local buses leave from the market square. The bus stops are on both the Aleksanterinkatu side and the Vapaudenkatu side of the square. The tourist bus stop is on the Marolankatu side, as is the city centre taxi rank.

Travel and season tickets are sold at the Alatori R-Kioski (Rauhankatu) or the bus station. Regional tickets are only sold at the bus station.

Inter-city transport

Inter-city buses leave from the bus station, which is located at the corner of Lahdenkatu and Jalkarannantie and the end of Vapaudenkatu.

Buses to the Helsinki-Vantaa Airport depart on the hour. Driving time is about 1 hour 25 minutes. Buses to Lahti from the airport also leave on the hour. Buses to Helsinki and back depart every half-hour.

The railway station is situated at the junction of Mannerheiminkatu and Vesijärvenkatu-Uudenmaankatu. The fastest train reaches Helsinki in 48 minutes. Train to Helsinki leaves at least once an hour.
