The Land Use Unit of Technical and Environmental Services prepares general and more detailed town plans for the City, acquires land for the needs of community construction and carries out property development in the city as required by law.

In the following pages, you can find out about such things as current targets of planning, opportunities to participate in planning work, planning and property development matters required for construction, and the City’s methods for acquiring land and transferring plots of land. City Planning

The aims of city planning are to organise the use and construction of areas so that the prerequisites are created for a good environment, and to promote development that is ecologically, economically, socially and culturally sustainable. Further information>>

Property Development

The City of Lahti is primarily responsible for all property transactions and for preparing for the distribution of plots of land in the town-planning area. In addition to this, property development tasks also include keeping the property register and advising customers about matters relating to property. Further information>>

Land policy

Matters that come within the sphere of land policy include the acquisition and administration of property, the transfer of plots and areas of land, the signing of sales contracts and lease agreements, the compulsory purchase of streets and other matters related to the compulsory purchase and redemption of land, caused by municipal engineering work. Further information>>
