The Department of Education and Culture in the City of Lahti aims to promote the lifelong learning and development of the city’s inhabitants, helping them take control of their lives and play an active part in their community, and improving their physical and mental well-being and psychological growth while also creating conditions for increasing the city’s appeal in the future.

The Department of Education and Culture governs primary and lower secondary education, upper secondary education, library and information services, youth services, adult education, physical education, the city’s symphony orchestra, theatre, museum and the cultural scene as a whole.
