There are four upper secondary schools in Lahti. Each of the them has a special focus: visual art, design and drama, mathematics and science, sports, music, technology or The Diploma Programme of the IB International Baccalaureate in English. There are about 2,200 pupils in Lahti’s upper secondary schools.
More than 5,000 students study at the vocational education institutions of Lahti each year. You can receive vocational education at Salpaus Further Education, Suomen Diakoniaopisto Lahti, the Lahti Folk High School and the Lahti Conservatory.
There are four universities and almost 10,000 university students in Lahti. University-level education and research are carried out by the Lahti University of Applied Sciences and the network-like Lahti University Campus combining the know-how of three universities: the Aalto University, the University of Helsinki and the Lappeenranta University of Technology.
Open university education can also be received at the Summer University of Päijät-Häme and the Lahti Folk High School. Community colleges provide hobbies and studies. The Wellamo Community College is the largest regional community college in Finland.
The TAIKA design and art school and the Lahti Music School provide extensive basic education in the arts. The Lahti Conservatory also provides music-related hobby opportunities or studies for a musical profession.

The Academic Library of Lahti serves university students, upper secondary and vocational education students as well as other people in need of information in Päijät-Häme. Other branches of the Academic Library of Lahti can be found on different campuses of the Lahti University of Applied Sciences and Salpaus Further Education.
