Lahti’s mobile app introduces services in English

The purpose of the added language version is to be able to serve non-Finnish speaking residents in the city, such as exchange students and immigrants.

The City of Lahti’s mobile app LahtiMob is now also available in English. The updated version is now available for download from app stores. The update aims to serve non-Finnish-speaking users better. The English version of the app was also created to serve visitors to the 2017 World Ski Championships in Lahti.

LahtiMob, released in December 2015, was developed to complement Lahti’s online services. It offers information about the City’s services, events and places of interest in a single handy package. The user can, for instance, use the app to check the distance and route to a selected place.

The mobile app has been downloaded over 4,000 times. Users have praised its visual appearance, clarity and ease of use. The feature that was requested most was an English version. Development of the system based on user feedback will continue.

LahtiMob is free of charge and available for download for iOS and Android phones. The mobile app can also be used on tablets, but the user interface is optimised for smartphones. The app makes use of GPS location services and requires an internet connection.
