Lahti funds Green Capital projects thought up by its citizens

The city of Lahti invites all of its citizens to help make Lahti the best possible European Green Capital!
Lahti Block Party

Citizens of Lahti are asked to submit their ideas about what they would like to do and what projects they would like to carry out in the future European Green Capital Lahti. The city has reserved EUR 40,000 for implementing projects suggested by its citizens.

Project funding will be given to projects that support communality, citizen participation or diversity of nature. Citizens may also suggest wintertime activities or events that promote sustainable mobility or improve the wellbeing of citizens or the environment. The projects are to be carried out by the end of July 2020, with the exception of wintertime projects which should be completed by 1 April 2020.

Participation is open to residents, organisations, communities and companies of Lahti. Project funding can be applied for from 1 to 28 October and funding decisions will be made by the end of 2019. A jury of experts will assess the applications and give its decisions on the projects to be funded. The aspects to be taken into consideration when deciding on project funding include the applicant's commitment to environmental perspectives, participation of citizens and results and impact of the project.

The European Green Capital year will be carried out in cooperation with citizens and communities. That is why Lahti wants to support communal activities and events all over the city. We look forward to ideas and suggestions by the citizens of Lahti!
