Open art competition for the Viiskulma square

The City of Lahti organises an open single-stage art competition between 1 April and 14 August 2020. The competition invites proposals for artworks for Lahti’s Viiskulma Square, area demarcated by Vesijärvenkatu, Kirkkokatu and Päijänteenkatu.

The square will serve as a central gateway to the new Lahti Art, Poster and Design Museum LAD, which opens in the summer of 2021. The proposed works should establish a unique identity for the square, attract interest in the new museum and guide visitors to it.

Who can participate?

Artists and those working in the field of art who are either Finnish or permanently resident in Finland are welcome to take part in the competition. The competition can be entered by an individual artist or by a working group, which can be multidisciplinary.

The competition follows the competition programme and the competition rules of the Artists' Association of Finland, in this order of validity.

The competition programme and its appendices were published on 1 April 2020 in Finnish and the translated material was added on 6 May 2020.
