The master planning work 2017–2020 will begin with a charting of the need for surveying and conducting surveys. One of the goals is to outline the distinctive zones of the new city: nature, the rural area, villages and parts of town as well as the urban area.
Planning the trackside and railway station areas plays a significant role in the next master planning round. The urban economy, services, natural environments and built environments are relevant themes in the coming years.
Master planning is a collaboration
As the new City Council term begins in 2017, the goals of the master plan are set in connection with the strategy process. In 2018, a master plan draft will be drawn up in collaboration with the residents, entrepreneurs and other co-operation partners. In 2019, the effects of the master plan will be assessed and a master plan proposal will be drawn up. The City Council will decide on approving the master plan in 2020.
