Changes to employment services in 2026

The Finnish Parliament has approved several legislative changes to employment services. The changes will come into effect in stages during 2026, with the first taking effect at the beginning of the year.

The aim of the changes is to clarify the jobseeker service process and to make job searching and participation in services more effective.

The City of Lahti’s Employment Services provides information about the changes on this continuously updated page, including details of the legislative changes and frequently asked questions.

Please note that this page focuses on the changes most relevant to jobseekers. Not all legislative changes are described here, as some concern the internal operations of the employment authorities and do not affect the jobseeker’s own use of the services.
