Transportation and streets

Environmentally friendly forms of transport, such as walking, cycling and public transport, are a priority in the city, especially in areas prone to traffic jams.

Mobility in Lahti

Lahti wants to increase the share of walking, cycling and public transport in the city’s traffic. The increased smoothness of routes, the functionality of travel chains and a good, safe traffic environment are key factors that can influence the choice of mode of transport.

On 1 January 2020, Lahti had a total of 665 kilometres of streets, 275 kilometres of public and private roads and 543 kilometres of bicycle paths, 166 kilometres of which were designated non-motorised traffic routes.
