Lahti Symphony Orchestra will conclude their spring season with a concert at Mukkula Event Park. The concert begins at 18:00 and lasts about an hour, with the event area opening at 16:00.
– Our first park concert last year was a great success. We are delighted to once again offer the city’s residents a classical music concert by the shores of Lake Vesijärvi, in the midst of nature, says manager Maija Kylkilahti from Lahti Symphony Orchestra.
The concert will be conducted by Kaapo Ijas, featuring young Lahti violinist Silvia Marjanen as the soloist. The mayor of Lahti, Niko Kyynäräinen, will host the evening.
Park Concert Program
The concert will focus on the music of Jean Sibelius, including his beloved Second Symphony and the grand finale, Finlandia. The concert will open with Lasse Mårtenson’s classic, Myrskyluodon Maija. The recent Juhani Heinonen Violin Competition winner, Silvia Marjanen, will perform as the soloist in Camille Saint-Saëns’ Havanaise.
The event will be opened by tango queen Heidi Pakarinen, who will lead the audience in communal singing along with Matti Hussi and Hannu Kella. The communal singing concert will feature entertainment music with a local flavour.
The event area opens at 16:00, with communal singing starting at 16:30. Lahti Symphony Orchestra’s concert begins at 18:00 and lasts about an hour. There will be food and drink sales during the event, including an area for alcohol consumption. The event is weather-dependent.
Mukkula Event Park is located in the Mukkula district, at the tip of Ritaniemi, offering stunning views of Lake Vesijärvi.
The free event is organized in collaboration with the City of Lahti, Lahti Symphony Orchestra, Möysän Musaklubi, and Soundfest. See event details at lahti.fi/120.
