Event Details

Date: Wednesday, 31 December 2025, at 19
Location: Lahti Sports Centre, Salpausselänkatu 8

The audience will be directed to the main stand, the curve on the city side, and the upper section of the ski jumping stand. In clear weather, the fireworks can be seen from afar. Please note that setting off private fireworks on site is not permitted. The music-synchronised display is designed by Väinö Pelkonen from Pyroten Oy.

Arrival and Traffic

We recommend allowing plenty of time for arrival — ideally 1 hour or more. Visitors are encouraged to come on foot or by public transport. The nearest bus stops are located on Jalkarannantie and Hämeenlinnantie.

The Sports Centre parking areas are reserved for the audience, with on-site traffic control in place. To ensure smooth parking, cars will be guided in the order of arrival. Once these areas are full, visitors will be directed to nearby parking facilities, including Kartano parking hall, Pikku‑Vesijärvi car park, Teivaa car park and Market Square parking.

Environmentally responsible fireworks

  • The fireworks used do not contain toxic metals or non degradable compounds. The use of hazardous substances such as lead has been discontinued since the previous decade due to CE regulations.
  • The European Union’s REACH regulation prohibits the use of environmentally harmful substances in pyrotechnic residues.
  • The carbon in the gunpowder used in fireworks is renewable charcoal rather than fossil coal. The display’s carbon dioxide emissions are equivalent to those produced by burning approximately 60 kg of firewood.
  • No plastic is released into the environment from the fireworks. After the display, the organiser will clean and recycle all waste.
Only a small amount of biodegradable cardboard and paper fragments may remain.
  • The structure and safety limits of fireworks are defined in the European Pyrotechnic Directive, which also considers noise and sound pressure. All fireworks used in the display comply with this directive.

The display will take place earlier in the evening and at a location selected to minimise disturbance to pets, helping to reduce stress for animals sensitive to fireworks.
