Rautatienkatu will be closed to vehicle traffic between Puistokatu and Harjukatu. The road closure will be in effect on Friday, October 31, from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Traffic controllers will be on site to direct traffic.
The public is encouraged to use public transportation to attend the park celebration.
Program from morning to evening in the park
There will be a program in Kaupungintalonpuisto from morning to evening on October 31, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Program includes performances, speeches, open doors, and reviews of Lahti’s history. There will be a separate program for children, including singing, games, face painting, and theatre. The City Hall open house will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
During the day, there will be a greeting from Mayor Niko Kyynäräinen, followed by the announcement of the Lahti Citizen of the Year. Former mayors will also be present to share their memories of their years in Lahti. Coffee and cake will be served to the first 1 200 visitors.
The program also includes a wide range of live music. Heidi Pakarinen will lead the audience in a sing-along with Matti Hussi. The stage will feature the Gaudia Grand Choir, the Kaarisilta musicians, and Duo Nana and Jukka. Rap artist Brädi will perform a celebratory concert, and the evening will conclude with a performance by Konsta Hietanen.
The City Hall and the park will be festively illuminated.
