Musical fountains at Pikku-Vesijärvi park celebrate Lahti’s 120th anniversary

Lahti turns 120, and the musical fountains at Pikku-Vesijärvi Park are joining the celebration with daily shows from October 27 to November 2. The performances are part of the city’s anniversary festivities and the Lahen Hohto art event. A highlight of the program is Myrskyluodon Maija, performed by the Lahti Symphony Orchestra.

Throughout the summer, the fountains have been running without music to keep the ponds oxygenated and prevent algae growth. Now, after technical upgrades, the musical shows are back—with improved sound direction based on resident feedback and a refreshed playlist featuring:

  • Kotona by Brädi
  • Paha vaanii by Marko Haavisto
  • Myrskyluodon Maija by Lahti Symphony Orchestra (arr. Lauri Porra, orig. Lasse Mårtenson)

The fountains were paused last autumn due to budget cuts and aging equipment. After a review in May, the city decided to temporarily reactivate the system. Plans are now in place to resume regular shows next summer.

Showtimes: Every evening at 7 PM from October 27 to November 2.
Extra shows on Saturday, November 1 and Sunday, November 2 at 9 PM.
