Set in Lahti’s iconic natural surroundings, particularly the Salpausselkä UNESCO Global Geopark, the course will challenge competitors with a mix of signature obstacles, elevation changes, and unpredictable weather. Key landmarks include Lake Vesijärvi and the city’s legendary ski jumps.

Race formats:

  • SPRINT: 5 km, 20 obstacles
  • SUPER: 10 km, 25 obstacles
  • BEAST: 21 km, 30 obstacles (European Championship)
  • Kids Race: 1–3 km with age-appropriate obstacles

Athletes will tackle obstacles such as the Spear Throw, Monkey Bars, Sandbag Carry, and a water crossing at Lake Vesijärvi. The climb up the landing slope of the HS100 ski jump will be one of the course’s defining features.

Spartan is the world’s largest obstacle course race (OCR) and endurance sports brand, organizing over 250 events annually in more than 40 countries. Lahti is proud to be the first Nordic city to host a Spartan European Championship event.

– Lahti is the perfect setting for a true championship. Those who complete this course will have truly earned their place as Spartans, says Spartan founder Joe De Sena.

– We are proud of our strong sports heritage and thrilled to welcome the Spartan European Championship to Lahti. We share Spartan’s core values – and we’ll add one more: Finnish SISU, says Mayor of Lahti Niko Kyynäräinen.
