Sport events significantly increased Lahti’s media attention

The big sports events of the summer season gave Lahti plenty of media coverage both in the news media and in social media domestically and internationally.

Between May and August, 1,441 news were published about Lahti, which was almost a thousand hits more than in the first quarter of this year. The combined potential reach of the news increased to 1.4 billion impressions. Sporting events took by far the most attention in terms of visibility. A considerable part of the news came from international media.

In the domestic news media, articles were most actively published in July, when the potential reach was at its peak. Also in August, the coverage was extensive and the level of reach was high. On the other hand, in August there was also news about the continuation of the cooperation between the city of Lahti and Kempower and about Lahti Events.

The information comes from the city’s media monitoring report, which concerns the second third of the year from the beginning of May to the end of August. The report was produced for the city by Meltwater.

International news media

International media articles related to the city of Lahti were published in 55 countries during the review period, a total of 967 articles. In the first review period, articles were published in 32 countries, a total of 247 articles. The potential reach of published articles in the second review period was almost 2 billion. The most articles were published in August, when the Ironman 70.3 World Championships were held in Lahti. The races were also widely visible in X (Twitter) updates.
