Let’s celebrate Finland’s independence with the whole family on Wednesday, 6.12.

Join us in celebrating Finland's independence on Wednesday, December 6th, with a family-friendly event at the Sibelius Hall. This year's celebration offers a diverse range of experiences and sights, and the entrance is free. We extend a warm welcome to all.

The headline performers will be the captivating Minja Koski and Mikael Saari. Additionally, expect an emotive exchange between Lahti Youth Theatre and young theatre enthusiasts from Zaporižžja, Ukraine.

Pekka Timonen, a recipient of Lahti’s medal, will serve as this year’s keynote speaker. The event will feature vibrant dance showcases by the Lahti Dance Institute, and City Council Chairman Juha Rostedt will offer the city’s greetings. Musical accompaniment will be provided by the Lahden Conservatory Brass Orchestra.

This celebration is designed for families, welcoming everyone to participate. Programs will be available from 12:15 at the entrance, and admission is free. The celebration will run for about 50 minutes without an intermission.

Additional ceremonies will be held at Nastola Church and the Heroes’ Cemetery. For comprehensive event details and the livestream link for the Family Independence Day celebration, visit lahti.fi/juhlat (in Finnish).
