Operations subject to notification

As per Section 13 of the Health Protection Act, health protection authorities monitor public recreational, meeting and accommodation establishments and facilities as well as establishments that must be subject to special obligations regarding hygienic conditions.

Operations subject to notification are public recreational, meeting and accommodation establishments, saunas, swimming halls, beaches and outdoor swimming pools open to the public, schools and educational institutions, day care centres, children's and retirement homes, barbershops, hair salons, beauty parlours and other establishments used for skin treatment or skin care, gyms and other exercise facilities with unlimited right to use, cemeteries and burial plots as well as other equivalent facilities or establishments used for operations that may cause negative health effects to the user.

The operator must make a written notification to the environmental health services about starting or acquiring such an operation that may cause negative health effects to the customer or the housing. A similar notification must also be made when existing operations are significantly changed. Before beginning the operation, the establishment must be verified by a building inspector as suitable for the intended operation.
