A new high-value data centre coming to Lahti

A new data center is being planned for the Kujala industrial area in Lahti. The data center project is being developed by ecogr0id.energy Oy and the construction company Peab.

The Finnish company ecogrid.energy Oy is responsible for the design of the data center. An application for a building permit and a waiver has been submitted to the city.

According to Peab, construction of the data center can begin as soon as the necessary permits are obtained. Construction is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2027. The data center is expected to be completed in 2028.

Data centers are a growing part of our increasingly digital society, and they play a key role in enabling cloud services, artificial intelligence, and data storage, among other things.

Last year, it was reported that a 1.2-billion-euro data center is being built in Kiveriö, Lahti, and will begin operations next year.

– Lahti’s growing appeal is clearly evident in the interest shown by several companies in locating in the city. It’s great that such significant investments are being planned for Lahti, commented Lahti Mayor Niko Kyynäräinen.
