Renovation of Laune Central Park continues – Traffic City closed until September

Central Park’s renovation will continue during the summer with several improvements. Work will focus on the traffic city area, parkour zone, and outdoor fitness equipment.

The old structures in traffic city will be removed for the new design. Construction begins in week 23 with site preparations and demolition. The area will be out of use until the end of September.

The new traffic city will be themed Mini-Lahti, selected through a public vote. Renovation is timely, as most structures are from 1989 and have seen heavy use.

Parkour and outdoor fitness areas will be renewed starting week 24 (8 June 2026), with completion expected by the end of August. The current play arena will move to Family Park’s fenced sand field to make room for the new parkour area.

All projects are part of Central Park’s general plan. The City of Lahti has received a state grant of €250,000 for the renovation this year.

Although there are several construction sites in the park over the summer, the area remains accessible and existing services can be used. We ask visitors to be careful near work areas.
