The Nastola Swimming Center is testing out women-only swimming sessions

There has been a demand in Lahti for swimming sessions specifically for women and girls. In the fall of 2026, the City of Lahti will organize three women’s swimming sessions at the Nastola Swimming Center, with the goal of lowering the barrier to participating in water sports and assessing the need for a more permanent service.

The pilot program aims to assess the need for the service

The goal of the women’s swimming session pilot is to encourage girls and women to participate in water sports and to determine whether there is a need for similar sessions in Lahti in the future.

“The pilot aims to provide a safe and easily accessible opportunity for water-based exercise. “Hopefully, we’ll also reach people for whom general swimming sessions, for one reason or another, don’t feel like a natural option,” says Service Manager Jenni Mikkola.

Visitor feedback is being collected on the pilot program.

News updated on August 20. Added: The public session ends at 6:30 p.m. at the pools. Customers participating in the public session must leave the facility by 7:00 p.m.
