Malva is the Cultural Act of the year 2023

Lahti's Museum of Visual Arts, Malva, has been chosen as the Cultural Act of 2023 in Finland at the Yle and Kulta ry Cultural Gala in Tampere. Malva extends its gratitude to all the voters!

– The mere nomination was a great honour, and winning based on public votes encourages us to continue the same path in the future. Malva has successfully engaged a broad audience and reached diverse groups. Our museum will continue to offer splendid and diverse cultural experiences. Malva is a bold, rugged, and refreshing museum experience, commented the Museo Director Tuulia Tuomi.

The Cultural Act of the Year is selected for a performance, event, exhibition, project, statement, or any other artistic action that has exceptionally stood out or contained something unique or otherwise deeply moving for the Finnish audience.

The professional jury selected Malva , among the final top ten alongside New Theatre Helsinki, Vive Kaija Saariaho!, Betoniunelmia exhibition, Kulttuuritoimitus.fi, Cooperative Poesia / Lantun henki, Demolition Art House Pinni47, Helsinki City Theatre’s Contemporary Stage, G Livelab X Elokapina Toivo elossa festival, and the establishment of Turku’s House of Art.
