The park is an important place for Lahti residents to enjoy the outdoors, relax, and spend time together. This recognition is a testament to the long-term, high-quality work that has been done. Pikku-Vesijärvi park was first awarded this prize back in 2017. A big thank you goes to the employees responsible for maintaining the park, says Maija Näveri, the park’s maintenance horticulturist.
The Green Flag Award is an award program that recognizes the quality of green space maintenance and management; it is administered internationally by the British environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, and in Finland by the Finnish Green Environment Association. The Green Flag Award program has been recognizing parks in Finland since 2016.
